Started the day by sleeping in. Finally left my CouchSurfing host around 2:30 PM to seek insurance. No dice. The company I tried does not sell motorcycle insurance for French Guiana... The nice lady called another company, no joy. The third company was closed for the day at 3:00 PM (things run differently down here.)
A new strategy emerged. Call the people that make the rules, the good folks at the French Embassy in Paramaribo. With any kind of luck they will be able to steer me in the right direction. Either I can get the insurance before entering French Guiana or I can only get it there. Hopefully they will know an insurance company and can hit the road and "Escape from Paramaribo" (a feature film coming to theaters summer 2013.

Paramaribo Surfing
I signed up with CoughSurfing.com about 10 days ago. Last night I spent my first night in Paramaribo, Suriname, as a guest with a cool ex-pat from San Francisco named Alex. It's so much better to hang out with a local and get the inside scoop, then to stay in a hotel or hostel. He just got off a 30 day water fast, losing 36 pounds! We've been chatting about diet and technology. Tonight we'll go see the new James Bond movie, Sky Fall. Today I have to find motorcycle insurance for French Guiana...

A Day at the Races
Returned to Linden, GY, for a proper visit with Hayward. After a evening at Library 3, the most rockin’ club in Linden, we headed toward Georgetown for a day at the races. The races were a mixed bag of motor cross, motorcycle, go cart and automobiles of various sizes. Naturally I focused on the two wheeled racers.
A winning team celebrating in Guyanese style!
Games of chance, very popular at the races.
On the way out we noticed a car with windows blown out by oversize speakers!
